SUPERNOVA 2013dd
     V. Lipunov, Sternberg Astronomical Institute (SAI), reports that V.
Shumkov has discovered an apparent supernova (mag 17.5) on unfiltered CCD
images (limiting mag 18.5) taken with the MASTER-Kislovodsk auto-detection
system (double 0.40-m f/2.5 reflector) on May 27.863 and 27.892 UT. The new
object is located at R.A. = 15h36m05s.15, Decl. = +13d57'06".9 (equinox
2000.0), which is 9".3 east and 3".6 north of the center of the presumed host
galaxy. D. Denisenko and E. Gorbovskoy (SAI) report that nothing was visible
at this position on MASTER-Kislovodsk images from 2012 Apr. 23.954 (limiting
mag 19.9). The discovery and reference images are available at website URL
http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/153605.15135706.9.jpg.

     L. Tomasella, S. Benetti, A. Pastorello, E. Cappellaro, P. Ochner, and M.
Turatto, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica,
report that an optical spectrogram of 2013dd (range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.3
nm), obtained on June 6.96 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+
AFOSC), shows that this is a type-Ia supernova at redshift z about 0.05205
(Almeida et al. 2011, Ap.J. 735, 125; via NED). A good match is found with
the normal type-Ia supernova 1996X (Salvo et al. 2001, MNRAS 321, 254) at
about two weeks after maximum light. The expansion velocity, deduced from the
Si II 635.5-nm absorption, is about 11000 km/s. The Asiago classification
spectra are posted at website URL http://graspa.oapd.inaf.it; classification
was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID
(Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
