SUPERNOVA 2013hp IN UGC 12432 = PSN J23135972+2453389
     Wenxiong Li and Xiaofeng Wang, Tsinghua University (THU); and Tianmeng
Zhang, National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC), report the
discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.0) on unfiltered CCD images taken
on Dec. 12.43 UT using the 0.6-m NAOC Schmidt telescope in the course of the
THU-NAOC Transient Survey (TNTS). The new object is located at R.A. =
23h13m59s.72, Decl. = +24d53'38".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 25".6 east and
4".1 south of the center of the galaxy UGC 12432. The TNTS images are posted
at URL http://www.thca.tsinghua.edu.cn/~wangxf/TNTS/PSNJ23135973+2453389.png.
The variable was designated PSN J23135972+2453389 when it was posted at the
Central Bureau's TOCP webpage and is here designated SN 2013hp based on the
spectroscopic confirmation reported below. Additional CCD magnitudes for
2013hp:  2012 Oct. 16, [20.0 (TNTS); 2013 Dec. 13.757, 17.5 (Gianluca Masi,
Francesca Nocentini, and Patrick Schmeer; remotely using a 43-cm telescope
near Ceccano, Italy; position end figures 59s.76, 38".0); 13.856, V = 17.4
(Massimiliano Martignoni, Magnago, Italy; 25-cm Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector;
position end figures 59s.66, 38".8; PPMXL reference stars); 15.830, 17.2
(Federica Luppi and Luca Buzzi, Varese, Italy; 0.60-m f/4.6 reflector;
position end figures 59s.73, 38".4; reference stars from CMC-14 catalogue;
image posted at URL http://www.astrogeo.va.it/pub/TOCP/PSN_U12432.jpg).

     J.-J. Zhang, Yunnan Astronimical Observatory (YNAO); and X.-F. Wang,
Tsinghua University, report on an optical spectrogram (range 350-895 nm) of
PSN J23135972+2453389 = SN 2013hp that was obtained on Dec. 18.48 UT with the
2.4-m telescope (+ YFOSC) at the LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of YNAO. The
spectrum is consistent with a type-Ia supernova a few days before maximum
light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the
"Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666,
1024) shows that the spectrum of 2013hp matches with that of SN 2002er at -5
days. Adopting for the host galaxy (UGC 12432) a recession velocity of 8383
km/s (Springob et al. 2005, Ap.J. Suppl. 160, 149), they measure a velocity
of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption feature to be about 11800 km/s.
