COMET P/1960 S1 = P/2012 TB36 (VAN HOUTEN-LEMMON)
     Maik Meyer, Limburg, Germany, has suggested that comet P/2012 TB_36
(cf. CBET 3269) may be identical to the long-lost comet D/1960 S1 (van Houten;
old-style comet designation 1961 X), which was found on Schmidt plates taken
on eight nights during Sept. and Oct. 1960 at Palomar by C. J. van Houten and
I. van Houten-Groeneveld (cf. IAUC 1973).  Gareth V. Williams, Minor Planet
Center, has confirmed the identity; the following linked orbital elements are
from 28 observations spanning 1960 Sept. 24-2012 Oct. 14 (mean residual 0".42;
cf. MPEC 2012-U98).  Williams notes that T = 1977 Mar. 14.6 TT at its missed
return then; G. Sitarski had predicted T = 1976 Dec. 29.5 ET for that return
(cf. IAUC 2970).  S. Nakano predicted T = 2011 Apr. 23.3 TT in the 2010/2011
and 2011/2012 Comet Handbooks of the International Comet Quarterly.
