COMET P/2012 R2 = P/1996 A1 (JEDICKE)
[Editor's note: the text below replaces that on CBET 3246 (Sept. 25
observational information).]
Artyom Novichonok and Otabek Burhonov report their recovery of comet
P/1996 A1 (cf. IAUCs 6287, 6288, 6292) on four 420-s CCD images obtained on
Sept. 11 with a 1.5-m f/8 Ritchey-Chretien reflector at the Majdanak
observatory in Uzbekistan; the comet showed a small coma of diameter 5".
G. V. Williams subsequently identified observations obtained on Sept. 25
by T. H. Bressi with the Spacewatch 0.9-m reflector.

The indicated correction to the prediction by G. V. Williams on MPC 75374 is
Delta(T) = -0.74 day; the indicated correction to the prediction by S. Nakano
in the 2011/2012 Comet Handbook (p. H13) is -0.70 day. The following linked
orbital elements by Williams are from 326 observations spanning 1993 Oct. 12
to 2012 Sept. 25 (mean residual 0".6; cf. MPEC 2012-T07):
