COMET P/2011 V1 (BOATTINI)
     A. Boattini reports his discovery of a comet with fairly strong
condensation and a 4" coma (but no visible tail) on CCD images taken on Nov.
1 with the 1.5-m reflector at Mount Lemmon (discovery observations tabulated
below). Pre-discovery Mount Lemmon observations from Oct. 22 were then
found at the Minor Planet Center. After posting on the Minor Planet Center's
NEOCP webpage, T. H. Bressi reports that the object appears diffuse and soft
in comparison to nearby stars, again with no visible tail, on CCD images taken
on Nov. 2.2 UT with the Spacewatch 1.8-m f/2.7 reflector. H. Sato (Tokyo,
Japan) writes that images taken remotely with a 0.51-m f/4.5 reflector at the
RAS Observatory near Mayhill, NM, U.S.A., on Nov. 2.3 shows a diffuse 10"
coma with a hint of faint tail 20" long toward p.a. 290 degrees.
