APPARENT NOVA IN M33: M31N 2010-07a
Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume, Japan; and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki, Japan,
report the discovery of an apparent nova (mag 17.2) in the galaxy M33 on
seven 40-s unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 19.1) taken around July
17.798 UT using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera).
The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.1 on two 40-s unfiltered CCD
frames (limiting mag 18.4) taken around July 18.783, is located at R.A. =
1h33m36s.86, Decl. = +30d46'22".2 (equinox 2000.0; reference catalogue
USNO-B1.0), which is 181" west and 405" north of the center of M33.
Nothing is visible at this position on their past frames taken on Mar. 16.438
and 18.442 (limiting magnitude 18.4) or on a Digitized Sky Survey image
from 1991 Oct. 5 (limiting red mag 18.7). M31N 2010-07a was confirmed at
mag 16.5 by T. Yusa, who remotely obtained three 180-s unfiltered CCD
exposures (limiting mag 19.0) with a 0.25-m f/3.4 refrector located at the
RAS Observatory near Mayhill, NM, U.S.A. on July 18.358, from which he
measured position end figures 36s.83, 22".2. Yusa has posted one of his
images at URL http://space.geocities.jp/yusastar/PNinM33_100718.htm, with
M31N 2010-07a marked by two lines.
