SUPERNOVA 2009kp IN NGC 6246
     K. Kinugasa, H. Takahashi, H. Taguchi, O. Hashimoto, and S. Honda, Gunma
Astronomical Observatory (GAO), write that a low-resolution spectrum (range
420-800 nm, resolution about 500) of 2009kp (cf. CBET 2004), was obtained on
Nov. 6.4 UT with the GAO 1.5-m telescope (+ GLOWS).  The spectrum shows it to
be a type-Ia supernova near maximum light.  Adopting the NED recession
velocity of 5334 km/s for NGC 6246 (Oosterloo and Shostak 1993, A.Ap. Suppl.
99, 379), the expansion velocity derived from the Si II absorption minimum
(rest 635.5 nm) is about 10000 km/s.
