SUPERNOVA 2009kq IN MCG +05-21-1
     R. Gagliano and T. Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova
(mag 16.8) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.5) taken with a 0.60-m
reflector at Ellijay, GA, U.S.A., on Nov. 5.41 UT in the course of the
Puckett Observatory Supernova Search.  The new object, which was confirmed at
mag 16.7 on images (limiting mag 19.6) taken by T. Orff on Nov. 6.40 with a
0.60-m reflector at Ellijay, is located at R.A. = 8h36m15s.09, Decl. =
+28o04'01".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".0 west and 23".7 north of the
center of MCG +05-21-1.  Nothing is visible at this position on images taken
by Puckett on 2005 Dec. 7 (limiting mag 19.7).
