images (limiting mag 19.3) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal on Feb.
6.34 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new
object was confirmed at mag 17.3 by T. Orff on Feb. 7.44 with the Portal 0.40-m
reflector. SN 2008Y is located at R.A. = 11h19m30s.57, Decl. = +54o27'46".2
