SUPERNOVA 2008fd IN ESO 466-G24
     G. Pignata, J. Maza, M. Hamuy, R. Antezana, L. Gonzalez, P. Gonzalez,
P. Lopez, S. Silva, G. Folatelli, D. Iturra, R. Cartier, and F. Forster,
Universidad de Chile; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, A. Crain, D. Foster, M.
Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent
supernova (mag approximately 15.8) on a unfiltered image taken on Aug.
27.14 UT with the 0.41-m "PROMPT 3" telescope located at Cerro Tololo.  The
new object is located at R.A. = 21h58m09s.22 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -27o23'17".1
+/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 16".4 west and 14".4 north of
the center of the galaxy ESO 466-G24.  Additional approximate "PROMPT 3"
magnitudes for 2008fd:  July 16.13, [18.5; Aug. 1.10, [18.5; 28.01, 15.7
+/- 0.3.
