SUPERNOVA 2008eu IN ESO 289-G10
     Cristovao Jacques, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, reports the discovery of an
apparent supernova (mag 15.6) by C. Colesanti, E. Pimentel, T. Napoleao, and
himself on an unfiltered CCD image (limiting magnitude 18.5) taken on Aug.
9.17 UT with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain f/3 reflector at the CEAMIG-REA
Observatory in the course of the Brazilian Supernovae Search Team survey; a
confirming image on Aug. 10.10 shows 2008eu at mag 15.8.  The new object is
located at R.A. = 22h16m44s.39, Decl. = -47o07'12".6 (equinox 2000.0), which
is 22" east and 9" south of the center of the galaxy ESO 289-G10.  Nothing is
visible at this position on a CCD image taken on 2005 Aug. 6 (limiting mag
19.0) or on a red Digitized Sky Survey image from 1990.
