NOVA SAGITTARII 2008
     H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University, writes that K. Haseda (Toyohashi, Aichi,
Japan) finds nothing brighter than mag 11.5 at the position of N Sgr 2008
(cf. CBET 1342) on his patrol images taken around Apr. 15.743 UT with a
Canon EOS-5D digital camera (+ 120-mm-f.l. lens).  Yamaoka adds that M.
Fujii (Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan) took a low-resolution spectrum with his
0.28-m reflector on Apr. 19.82 UT, revealing Balmer lines and several broad
absorption lines; the H_alpha line shows a prominent P-Cyg profile, which
suggests that it is a genuine classical nova around or soon after maximum.
     Further to CBET 1342, S. Nakano says that an unfiltered CCD image
taken by K. Nishiyama and F. Kabashima with a 40-cm f/9.8 reflector on Apr.
19.725 shows that the nova has brightened to mag 7.9.
     W. Liller, Vina del Mar, Chile, reports that Technical Pan photos
taken on Apr. 13.3 and 16.22 UT through an orange filter with an 85-mm
camera lens shows nothing at the position of N Sgr 2008 (approximate
limiting mag 11.0).  P. Camilleri, Hurstville, Sydney, N.S.W., writes that
his patrol images from Apr. 11.593 show nothing at the position of the nova
also to limiting mag 11.
