SUPERNOVA 2007qe
     F. Yuan, University of Michigan; R. Quimby, California Institute of
Technology; J. Aretakis and C. Akerlof, University of Michigan; and
J. C. Wheeler, University of Texas; on behalf of the ROTSE collaboration,
together with the "Nearby Supernova Factory" (NSF) collaboration, report
the discovery of a supernova (mag about 17.4) in unfiltered CCD images
taken with the 0.45-m ROTSE-IIIb telescope at McDonald Observatory on Nov.
13.17 UT.  The new object, which was measured at mag about 17.0 on Nov.
14.12, is located at R.A. = 23h54m12s.98, Decl. = +27o24'33".4 (equinox
2000.0; positional uncertainty < 1"), which is 11".9 east and 1".1 north of
the center of its apparent host galaxy (seen in Digitized Sky Survey images).
A spectrum, obtained by the NSF collaboration on Nov. 14.3 with the SuperNova
Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-m telescope,
shows 2007qe to be a young type-Ia supernova, easily a week before peak
brightness.  The redshift is undetermined, as no lines from the host are
present in the "Integral Field Unit".  However, compared to other supernova
spectra at similar epochs, the redshift velocity should be less than 3000
km/s.  The Ca II infrared triplet, and H and K, lines are quite broad, with
the former showing absorption over 90 nm.  A finding chart of 2007qe can be
