V2362 CYGNI
     H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University, reports that -- using CCD images taken
by K. Nakajima (Kumano, Mie, Japan, Apr. 5.76 UT), H. Naito (Nishi-Harima
Astronomical Observatory, Apr. 5.79), and H. Maehara (University of Tokyo,
Apr. 5.81) -- he has measured the following averaged precise position of
V2362 Cyg (IAUC 8697, 8698) using UCAC2-catalogue stars: R.A. =
21h11m32s.346 +/- 0s.010, Decl. = +44d48'03".66 +/- 0".14 (equinox 2000.0).
The nearby "red" star mentioned on IAUC 8697 has UCAC2 position end
figures 31s.884, 3".23 (with negligible proper motion), placing it about
4".9 away from the nova's position. The 2MASS images (1998 Oct. 13) and
the Digitized Sky Survey I image (1994 Sept. 13) do not show any other
object. The DSS blue (1993 June 27) and red (1990 Sept. 10) images show a
dimmer object (red mag about 18) near the nova's position; if it is a true
progenitor, the amplitude of nova outburst is about 10 magnitudes.
     E. O. Waagen, American Association of Variable Star Observers, reports
the following additional visual magnitude estimates of V2362 Cyg: Apr.
5.902 UT, 8.5 (B. Granslo, Fjelhammar, Norway); 5.97, 8.5 (M. Reszelski,
Szamotuly-Galawo, Poland); 6.105, 8.3 (Granslo); 6.119, 8.3 (C. Otten,
Kinrooi, Belgium); 6.125, 8.2 (G. Poyner, Birmingham, England); 6.160, 7.8
(A. Kammerer, Malsch, Germany); 6.165, 8.1 (M. Biesmans, Essen, Belgium);
6.311, 8.0 (M. Simonsen, Imlay City, MI); 6.316, 8.1 (M. Komorous, London,
ON, Canada); 6.422, 8.0 (C. Chiselbrook, Marietta, GA).
