SUPERNOVAE 2006lv AND 2006mo
     L. Watson, D. DePoy, and J. L. Prieto, Ohio State University,
report that optical spectra (range 380-730 nm) of 2006lv (cf. CBET
715) and 2006mo (cf. CBET 719) were obtained with the Hiltner 2.4-m
telescope (+ CCDS spectrograph) at MDM Observatory on Nov. 5.2 and
5.5 UT, respectively. SN 2006lv shows spectral features consistent
with a type-Ib/c supernova after maximum, with He I (587.6, 667.8,
706.5 nm at rest) features and Si II absorption at 639 nm (635.5 nm
at rest). The spectrum is similar to that of SN 1999ex (Hamuy et al.
2002, Ap.J. 124, 417) obtained 13 days after maximum. Assuming a
recesion velocity for the host galaxy, UGC 6517, of 2491 km/s
(Theureau et al. 1998, A.Ap. Suppl. 130, 333), the minimum of the Si
II (635.5 nm at rest) is blueshifted by 1000 km/s.
SN 2006mo shows spectral features of a normal type-Ia supernova
that are consistent with the spectrum of SN 1992A at 5 days before
maximum light. Assuming a recession velocity for the host galaxy,
MCG +06-02-17, of 11093 km/s (de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, Third
Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies), the minimum of the Si II
(635.5 nm at rest) absorption occurs at 12000 km/s.
