POSSIBLE NEW SUPERNOVA IN NGC 3340
     T.-H. Liou, T.-W. Chen, Y. Urata, Y.-T. Chen, and C.-Y. Shih
report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 16.3) on
unfiltered CCD images taken in the course of the Taiwan Supernova
Survey on Feb. 26.786 UT with the 1-m Lulin Observatory telescope.
The new object is located at R.A. = 10h42m18s.21, Decl. = -0o22'38".4
(equinox 2000.0), which is 3".6 east and 1".6 south of the center of
NGC 3340. Nothing was visible at this location on 2005 Mar. 6.693
(limiting magnitude about 20.5). A confirming image taken on May
9.662 showed the new object at mag approximately 17.0. T.-W. Chen
reports that this new object is located 1".8 east and 3".0 south
of the position of SN 2005O (cf. IAUC 8471).
