NOVA VULPECULAE 2007
     U. Munari, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Padova Astronomical
Observatory; and S. Moretti and S. Tomaselli, ANS (Asiago Novae and
Symbiotic stars) collaboration, write that a low-resolution (400-780 nm,
0.54 nm/pixel) spectrum of N Vul 2007 (cf. IAUC 8861, 8862) was obtained on
Aug. 9.945 UT with a 0.42-m reflector in Bastia (Ravenna), Italy, showing a
blue continuum with strong hydrogen Balmer and Fe II multiplet-42 emission
lines, all displaying deep P-Cyg profiles, with absorption components
displaced on average by -2100 km/s from emission components. Fe II
multiplets 38, 48, 49, and 74, and O I 777.2-nm, are seen in absorption,
with weak emission components. He I 587.6-, 667.8-, and 706.5-nm are seen
in weak absorption. The object is therefore confirmed as a nova, of the
Fe II type, observed close to maximum optical brightness. CCD photometry
on Aug. 9.889 yields V = 8.24 and B-V = +0.52.
CCD magnitudes reported to the Central Bureau for N Vul 2007: Aug.
5.518 UT, [13.0 (Y. Nakamura, Kameyama, Mie, Japan, 135-mm f/2.8 telephoto
lens; communicated via H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University); Aug. 9.146, V = 8.42
+/- 0.01 (W. G. Dillon, Missouri City, TX, U.S.A., remotely using a robotic
telescope near Mayhill, NM); Aug. 9.33, V = 8.30, B-V = +0.45; V-R = +0.40
(E. Guido and G. Sostero, observing remotely with a telescope near Mayhill,
NM, U.S.A.); Aug. 9.512, 8.4 (H. Abe, Yatsuka-cho, Matsue, Shimane-ken,
Japan; via S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan). Visual magnitude estimate: Aug.
9.862, 8.6 (C. Labordena, Castello, Spain).
