SUPERNOVAE 2007ge AND 2007gh
     Further to CBET 1013, the "Nearby Supernova Factory" collaboration (G.
Rigaudier and E. Pecontal, Centre de Recherche Astronomique de Lyon; C.
Buton, Y. Copin, E. Gangler, and G. Smadja, Institut de Physique Nucleaire
de Lyon; P. Antilogus, R. Pain, R. Pereira, and C. Wu, Laboratoire de
Physique Nucleaire et de Haute Energies de Paris; G. Aldering, C. Aragon, S.
Bailey, S. Bongard, M. Childress, S. Loken, P. Nugent, S. Perlmutter, K.
Runge, R. C. Thomas, and B. A. Weaver, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory,
Berkeley; C. Baltay, A. Bauer, D. Rabinowitz, and R. Scalzo, Yale University;
D. Birchall, Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii, Hilo; and J.
Holtzman, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces) reports the discovery of a
type-II supernova (mag R = 19.1) in images obtained on July 29 UT using the
QUEST-II camera on the Palomar Oschin 1.2-m Schmidt telescope, operated by
the Palomar-QUEST Consortium.  SN 2007gh is located at R.A. = 2h10m31s.08,
Decl. = +2o19'59".3 (equinox 2000.0).  A spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of
2007gh, obtained on Aug 1.6 with the SuperNova Integral Field Spectrograph
(SNIFS) on the University of Hawaii 2.2-m telescope, indicates that the
supernova appears to be a few months old, with strong hydrogen Balmer
emission features; an approximate redshift of z = 0.02 is derived by
measuring the peak of the observed H-alpha feature.
     Also, a SNIFS spectrum of 2007ge (cf. CBET 1012), obtained on Aug.
1.5 UT, indicates that it is a type-Ia supernova, a few days past maximum.
