TITANS: Postdoc to work on Event Horizon Telescope Imaging of Supermassive Black Holes

The TITANs Millennium Nucleus (titans.cl) seeks a two year postdoc, with the possibility of extension and/or other longer term fellowships. TITANs focusses on black hole formation, growth, and imaging the inner environs of black holes with the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) and other VLBI arrays. We seek to extend the transformational science of M87 and SgrA* to dozens (and up to hundreds with the next-generation EHT) of nearby AGNs which can be imaged at better than 100 gravitational radii, and possibly resolve additional black hole rings. Observational work is complemented with state-of-the-art numerical simulations.
Interested applicants should send a CV with publication list, statements of previous (2 pages) and proposed (1 page) research, as well as contact information for three references, to nagar@astro-udec.cl. We encourage applicants to contact the most relevant team members (Nagar, Venkatessh Ramakrishnan and Dhanya Nair) ahead of submission. Applications will be reviewed starting October 1, 2022, and continue until the positions are filled. The starting date is flexible.
